Fall Planting

The ideal time for fall planting is late August through mid-September. This timing takes advantage of cooler weather and gives time for trees and shrubs to establish themselves prior to winter. Be sure to top-dress with mulch before winter weather sets in.

Perennials can be a little more risky, I have found that when we have harsh or very dry winters, some do not make it. If you do plant perennials and groundcovers, it is imperative to use mulch to protect tender roots.
